A study out of Brazil looked at 95 post-menopausal women and found that the women having high hs-CRP values, or high body inflammation, were those that had higher body mass indexes, higher body fat percentages, bigger waist circumferences, higher triglyceride levels, higher blood glucose and higher insulin resistance values than the women with low hs-CRP values.
These high, undesirable hs-CRP values were linked to women that were sedentary, walking less than 6,000 steps per day, and consuming a diet with a high glycemic (high carbohydrate) load and also low protein.
The researchers concluded that “sedentary lifestyle and high-carbohydrate intake were associated with low-grade chronic inflammation and cardiovascular risk in post-menopause.”
